. our first train ride .
. steve and i went on our first train ride last week . we left mt. pleasant and headed to denver, colorado for kari's (steve's cousin) wedding . we had heard horror stories of late trains so i had very low expectations as to our departure and arrival times. we were supposed to leave at 6 pm, as it turns out the train was only 35 minutes late for our departure . and 2 hours late upon arrival . i was actually glad for the extra two hours on the train because most of the trip was at night and we would have seen very little country side had the train been on time.
. we had dinner and breakfast with a lovely couple from england on their way to see their daughter in colorado .
. our beds for the night were quite nice, considering . we slept better than we thought we would . waking up about every hour due to train movement . yet we still got probably 6 hours of sleep .
. woke up to a beautiful golden sunrise .
. even had time for a netflix .
. a little colorado country side .
. then finally arriving in denver at union station at 9 am .
. since we were not overly pressed for time the train ride was a great choice for us . at some point i may take a train ride again, but steve...probably not . the rest of our trip has been amazing . seeing family, meeting some great friends and family of our family and seeing drew and kari commit their lives to one another . i'll be sharing more photos soon . we'll be heading home in the morning . love to get away . love to get home .
:-)

Sounded like the train ride wasn't as bad as you thought it might be thats good.. That would be fun to take a train ride to colorado!

Love seeing the train photos! It was so great meeting you at Kari's wedding. Such fun. I'm busy weeding through my photos and editing them.

So glad you had a fun trip and liked the train ride. I have always thought it would be fun. Grandpa's only train ride was on a troop train in the early 50's, not impressed. Looking forward to more pictures.
We've taken the train to Iowa a few times and really enjoyed it. Will probably do it again once we retire -- actually, Charlie is talking about a total cross-country trip. Not sure I could handle that unless we stop in a city now and then for a few nights. The sleeper cars are very enjoyable.
